Your self-image is something that naturally fluctuates throughout your lifetime., I know mine has for sure! The way we see ourselves is influenced by so many different factors, such as our experiences, relationships, and of course our lifestyle at the time!
Before I started my business, I knew I was up against some tough competition both online and offline. That's why I knew I had to put my energy into building a powerful personal brand and focus on developing my self-image and self-esteem, For clarity - self-image is how you perceive yourself, while self-esteem is the level of confidence you have in yourself.
It's important to recognise that your relationship with yourself is the most important one you will ever have, and investing time in developing a healthy and balanced view of yourself will have a positive impact on your overall well-being.
Having a healthy self-image is accepting yourself for who you are, flaws and all. It means acknowledging your strengths and weaknesses and recognising they are all a part of what makes you wonderfully unique. It also means being kind and compassionate towards yourself, rather than constantly criticising or judging yourself so harshly.
One way to develop a healthy self-image is to practice self-compassion, treating yourself with the same kindness, concern, and support that you would offer to a good friend, so go on be your own best friend! It means being understanding and forgiving of your mistakes and failures, and focusing on your progress and growth rather than dwelling on what's happened in the past.
Another way is to focus on your strengths and accomplishments, this doesn't mean ignoring your weaknesses (we all have them), but recognising that they do not define you.
When you focus on your strengths and accomplishments, you'll build your confidence and self-esteem, which will help you to overcome any challenges and achieve your goals.
I discovered the power of self-esteem and self-image affirmations when I trained as a Style and Confidence Coach. I did think it was all a bit woo-woo at first but soon realised the importance of these to help me develop a healthy and balanced view of myself. Since then I have used affirmations every morning as part of my daily routine.
Here are five affirmations for you to try too! Try and build them into your daily routine as well::
I am worthy of love and respect, just as I am.
My worth is not defined by my accomplishments or failures.
I am capable of achieving my goals and overcoming challenges.
I am deserving of happiness and fulfilment in all areas of my life.
I am grateful for my unique strengths and talents, and I will use them to make a positive impact in the world.
