Exciting News – Janine Coney MKBAA Finalist Announcement!

Janine Coney

I am incredibly exciteed (I know everyone says that, right!) to share that I’ve been shortlisted as a finalist in the Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards (MKBAA)!

For those who may not know, the MKBAA is one of the region's most prestigious events, celebrating outstanding businesses and individuals across multiple industries. The awards recognise achievements in areas like innovation, growth, and community impact. This year’s theme focuses on Bridging the Gap: Skills & Learning for Our Future Workforce.

The grand finals will be held on 20th March 2025 at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, which means it’s an excuse to dress up for me. It’s going to be a great night, all the winners will be announced during the ceremony celebrating the best of the local business community.

Why Entering Awards Matters

You might here people say, why should i enter awards. Do they matter? Here's why I personally think you should consider them. Participating in awards like the MKBAA is more than just an ego boost—it’s a powerful move for your personal and business brand. That said, not all awards are created equal. It’s important to choose awards that align with your values and reflect the real impact of your work. The most valuable awards are those judged by credible industry experts, celebrating genuine innovation and meaningful contributions to your field.

These types of awards help to:

1️⃣ Build Credibility & Authority - Being recognized as a finalist or winner positions you as a leader in your field. It builds trust and demonstrates that your work is seen, valued, and respected by your clients, peers and industry experts.

2️⃣ Increase Visibility - Awards are a great way to raise your profile. From networking opportunities to media coverage, they help you stand out and attract new clients, partners, and opportunities. Consider the PR you can create.

3️⃣ Offer Reflection - Preparing an award entry forces you to evaluate your achievements, challenges, and youru growth - and yes it's OK to enter yourself or your business! It’s a valuable opportunity to take stock of how far you’ve come and what makes your business unique- or mee it really opened my eyes to how far I have come in my business.

4️⃣ Boost Motivation & Recognition - It’s really easy to get caught up in the day-to-day running of your business. But Awards remind you and your team that the hard work, late nights, and big decisions are worth it.

For me, this nomination and selection process to the Finals highlights the work I’ve been doing in personal branding, marketing strategy, and business growth. Helping businesses create visibility, impact, and sustainable success is my passion, and being acknowledged for that is incredibly rewarding.

I am counting down the days until the finals and am looking forward to celebrating with other businesses across Milton Keynes. And yes, I'm already stressing about what to wear - because that's exactly the kind of important business decision I need right now!

Watch this space - win or not, it's going to be a fantastic celebration of what makes our business community in Milton Keynes so special.
